Chiefs deserved more - Komphela

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has defended his side following their 1-0 Absa Premiership loss to Chippa United in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday, suggesting they deserved more from the game.

Chiefs were beaten by an early goal from Abel Mabaso, and had to rely on goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune to make a five stop from Moeketsi Sekola to avoid more damage.

Pule Ekstein later hit the post, but Chiefs drew another blank to extend their winless run to fur games and put a further dent in their rapidly fading title hopes.

"I think in the first half, we committed an error right at the beginning and that was the defining moment," Komphela said.

"With respect, they did well, Chippa, but I thought in the second half, there was only one team on the park.

"I think the number of chances we created was more than they did, but all we need to do is hit the back of the net."

Chiefs are next in action away at improving Platinum Stars on Saturday.
