Laffor credits teamwork for ACL win

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Anthony Laffor has deflected praise on the rest of the squad after his late goal saved the Champions of Africa an embarrassing early exit from the Caf Champions League.

The Brazilians were starring at shock exit on the away goals rule to Ugandan Champions Kampala Capital City Authority, after Geoffrey Sserunkuma handed Kasasiro Boys the lead after 30 minutes.

However, Laffor managed to equalise nine minutes from time to level the scoring, to help Pitso Mosimane's side progress to the group stage of the continental showpiece, with a 3-2 aggregate result.

"Scoring that goal was not about me. It was all about the team. We fought as a team, and won as a team," he told the club's website.

"We knew it was going to be tough, particularly after they scored. But being African Champions and failing to progress was not an option for us. We fought and looked for that one chance, and we scored.

"The other guys like (Yannick) Zakri, Percy (Tau) and Mshishi (Themba Zwane) were playing well and scoring was inevitable. We just needed to keep our composure. In the end we got what we wanted."
