Ghana downgrade Gyan's injury
The Ghana Football Association have updated the team on progress with Asamoah Gyan's injury situation.
The captain had pulled off during the Black Stars defeat to Egypt in the last group game match of Group D, sparking fears that the influential striker could not make Sunday's quarterfinal clash with DR Congo.
However, news on Friday from the FA said Gyan has returned to the team camp to undergo treatment following tests in the Gabonese capital, Libreville. The results show that the injury is not as bad as initially feared.
According to team doctor Adam Baba, the skipper suffered a left thigh muscle contusion, rather than a full blown hamstring injury. It is not clear if the UAE-based player would be fit in time to play against the central Africans at the weekend.
