Eymael's move to Celtic halted
Bloemfontein Celtic's new coach Luc Eymael will not be allowed to sit on the bench when Celtic plays against Cape Town City, after the Premier Soccer League halted the move on Friday.
'The PSL ruled that they could not register the coach or issue him his registration card. This is after Polokwane City lodged a complaint with the league to contest the registration of their former coach," Celtic announced on their club website.
This is a huge setback for Siwelele who had hoped to have Eymael on the bench as soon as possible to help steer them out of the relegation zone as they currently sit in 13th position, four points ahead of bottom-placed Baroka FC.
The Belgian had shockingly resigned from City a day after guiding the team to the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup, only to be announced as the new Celtic coach few days later.
“Unfortunately our coach (Luc Eymael) will not be available for the City game due to our pending case with Polokwane City. They were within their rights to lodge a protest if not satisfied about the resignation of their former coach and PSL has for now ruled in their favour,” the club's CEO Khumbulani Konco said.
Celtic will again rely on their former players Lehlohonolo Seema and John Maduka to guide the team.
"The case was postponed to the 30th of March 2017 and until then the coach will not be registered with the league or sit on the bench," concluded the statement.
